The world of Pokémon GO is set for a new adventure as Niantic officially unveils the Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 event. This year’s iteration of the popular November event will introduce new Pokémon, new Shiny forms, and new challenges for trainers worldwide. Following a highly successful in-person event in Nagasaki, Japan, the global event is set to take place on November 15 and 16, offering players a chance to catch a new family of Pokémon and face off against formidable foes. This announcement comes as part of a larger slate of content for the “Tales of Transformation” season, and it promises to cap off the year with a bang.

The Wild Area events, inspired by the vast, open-world regions of the Pokémon games on Nintendo Switch, have become a staple of the Pokémon GO calendar. They are known for introducing a fresh slate of Pokémon and mechanics, often centered around a specific type or theme. This year, the theme is centered on Dark- and Fairy-type Pokémon, bringing a mix of cunning and charm to the mobile game. The featured Pokémon of the event are the mischievous Impidimp and its powerful evolutions, Morgrem and Grimmsnarl, all of which are making their highly anticipated debut in the mobile game.

Pokémon Debuts and Shiny Releases

The highlight of the Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 event is undoubtedly the introduction of the Impidimp evolution line. Impidimp, the Wily Pokémon, will be appearing in the wild and hatching from 5 km Eggs. Trainers will be able to evolve it into Morgrem with 25 candies, and then into the imposing Grimmsnarl with an additional 100 candies. This is a major addition for collectors and competitive players alike, as Grimmsnarl is a powerful Dark/Fairy-type Pokémon with a unique design and a strong moveset in the main series games.

In addition to the Impidimp line, the event will also mark the global debut of several new Shiny Pokémon. For the first time, trainers will have a chance to encounter Shiny Impidimp, Shiny Unown W, and Shiny Hatenna. The inclusion of Shiny Unown W is particularly exciting for completionists, as it brings the hunt for the elusive Unown one step closer to completion. Furthermore, trainers will have a chance to encounter Shiny Shadow Darkrai and Shiny Shadow Cresselia in special Shadow Raids, offering a new challenge and the potential for some incredibly rare rewards. These raids are an event-exclusive feature and will require players to work together to defeat these powerful legendary Pokémon.

Event Details, Bonuses, and More

The Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 event will run globally from November 15 to November 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on both days. The event is divided into two rotating habitat hours: “Lurking Dark Hour” and “Fanciful Fairy Hour.” This will ensure that trainers have a balanced experience between the two featured types. A ticketed version of the event, costing $11.99 USD, will offer a host of exclusive bonuses and rewards for dedicated players, including:

  • Increased Shiny Encounters: Ticket holders will have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon in the wild.
  • Exclusive Special Research: A branching Special Research story will allow trainers to choose a path centered on either Dark- or Fairy-type Pokémon.
  • Double Catch Candy: Trainers will earn 2x the normal amount of candy for catching Pokémon during the event.
  • Half Egg Hatch Distance: Eggs placed in an incubator during the event will only require half the normal distance to hatch.
  • Six Free Raid Passes: Ticket holders can receive up to six free Raid Passes per day by spinning Photo Discs at gyms.

The Return of Mighty Pokémon

The Wild Area event will also see the return of “Mighty Pokémon,” exceptionally powerful opponents that appear in the wild. These Pokémon have a higher chance of having high IVs and being XL or XXL size, making them highly desirable catches. The event’s Mighty Pokémon will appear regardless of the habitat hour, adding an element of surprise to every encounter. The event will also feature new Mighty Pokémon debuts, including the likes of Wigglytuff, Gardevoir, and Weavile, giving trainers a chance to catch these powerful Pokémon with boosted stats and a higher chance of being Shiny.

The Pokémon GO Wild Area 2025 event is shaping up to be a significant addition to the game’s annual lineup. By introducing a new line of Pokémon and offering exciting new challenges and rewards, Niantic is demonstrating its commitment to keeping the game fresh and engaging for its millions of players worldwide. For trainers ready to embark on a new adventure, the call of the Wild Area is a sound they will not want to miss.
